Tenure-Track Position Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine

The Department of Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine at the Johannes Kepler University Linz invites applications In accordance with the collective agreement for university employees.

In accordance with the collective agreement for university employees and the Austrian Universities Act 2002 (UG), the Department of Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine at the Johannes Kepler University Linz invites applications to fill a limited (six-year), full-time (40 hours per week) tenure-track position. The successful candidate must hold a doctorate/PhD degree.

The position is open to highly qualified junior researchers holding a doctorate/Ph.D. in medicine or natural sciences (biology, chemistry, etc.), and includes the option of signing a qualification agreement which - following a positive decision - could result in a permanent position as Associate Professor (§ 99 para. 5 and 6 Austrian Universities Act).

The successful candidate is expected to expand and strengthen the JKU's research efforts in the field of musculoskeletal tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. A working research group within the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology is expected to provide the foundation to conduct outstanding medical research in this field. The successful candidate will be 100% involved in research and teaching and will not have a clinical care mandate.

The candidate is expected to possess substantial expertise and experience in the field of musculoskeletal tissue engineering and regenerative medicine involving stem cells, extracellular vesicles and scaffolds, a fundamental working knowledge of musculoskeletal tissue engineering, as well as regenerative medical procedures and processes in support of clinical applications (ethics, GMP upgrade, regulations, etc.), particularly in base-knowledge research into musculoskeletal diseases and establishing a bio-tissue bank for degenerative musculoskeletal diseases.

The successful candidate for the tenure-track position in Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine is expected to demonstrate a high degree of willingness to engage in interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration between different disciplines.

Following the successful completion of a doctorate/Ph.D., the prospective applicant will be expected to demonstrate a record of academic activity, outstanding publications, teaching experience, and having successfully acquired external funding. The candidate’s doctorate/PhD degree should be no older than ten years, whereby career breaks on account of parenting leave, military service, etc. may be deducted.

The annual minimum salary under the collective agreement is EUR 66,532.20 gross. The annual minimum salary under the collective agreement will be raised to EUR 78,338.40. As part of the appointment negotiations, the definitive salary will be discussed with the Rector.
